Ahmadinejad: Israel Soon Destroyed
The Associated Press

June 03, 2007

Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday said the world would witness the destruction of Israel soon, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Ahmadinejad said last summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah showed for the first time that the 'hegemony of the occupier regime (Israel) had collapsed, and the Lebanese nation pushed the button to begin counting the days until the destruction of the Zionist regime,' IRNA quoted him as saying.

'God willing, in the near future we will witness the destruction of the corrupt occupier regime,' Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying during a speech to foreign guests mostly from African, Arab and neighboring countries who attended ceremonies marking the 18th anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who is known as the father of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Embattled Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has lost public support after Israel failed to achieve its goals during last summer's 34-day war with Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon _ freeing two captured soldiers and crushing the militant group.

The war was sparked after two Israeli soldiers were kidnapped by Iranian- and Syrian-backed Hezbollah militants in a cross-border raid. The fighting ended with a U.N.-brokered cease-fire that called for deployment of U.N. peacekeepers and Lebanese troops in southern Lebanon along the border with Israel.

Ahmadinejad has made anti-Israel comments in the past.

In October 2005, he caused outrage in the West when he said in a speech that Israel's 'Zionist regime should be wiped off the map.'

His supporters have argued Ahmadinejad's words were mistranslated and should have been better translated as 'vanish from the pages of time' _ implying Israel would vanish on its own rather be destroyed.

I hope that too. Before that there will be no peace in Middle East.

And on a side note, Ahmadinejad isn't the one that holds the political power in Iran. That's why it's pretty funny how western media always quotes his words as an example of Iranian political wish. And many times those words are even translated wrong for the obvious reasons.

Now, let's take a look of what Israel's political elite have said about Palestine and arabs in general:

"There is a huge gap between us (Jews) and our enemies not just in ability but in morality, culture, sanctity of life, and conscience. They are our neighbors here, but it seems as if at a distance of a few hundred meters away, there are people who do not belong to our continent, to our world, but actually belong to a different galaxy." - Israeli president Moshe Katsav. The Jerusalem Post, May 10, 2001

"The Palestinians" would be crushed like grasshoppers ... heads smashed against the boulders and walls." " - Israeli Prime Minister (at the time) in a speech to Jewish settlers New York Times April 1, 1988

"Ours will be a brutal land of pens stretching between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean that will make South African apartheid pale." - Yigal Bronner

We already the president of iraq has no power. He won his election saying he would reform the country and bring more power back to the people. And he hasn't done any of that, instead he just became a puppet of the real holders of power and does what they tell him to do. Like saying stupid things that will get his people to rally behind the flag and focus on hating Jews instead of focusing on how they have no power and are run by dictators.

And another thing, that map that was posted doesnt tell you a very important thing..... that arab countries started every war that led to Israel taking more land. And why doesnt that map show land that Israel gave back? Muslims always shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to Israel, and then they cry about it.

Yea but those are those extremist Israelis that give the common sensed- which exist- a bad name. You got those too on the other side.

In my opinion the extremists of both sides need to be dragged into the desert and get the shit beaten out of them.

I'm sure there are Israelis who talk that way.... but you still cant hide the fact that Arabs started every single war against Israel. Actions speak louder then words.

The israeli invasion of palestine is the reason the wars took place, without the illegal invasion, there would not be any war with israel....because it would not exist!

I know the history well, and yes they have been there for centuries, but where always ruled by other nations. lets have a look:

The Assyrians conquered Israel in 722 or 721 B.C
The Babylonians conquered Judah around 586 B.C
About 50 years later, the Persian king Cyrus conquered Babylonia.
The Persians ruled the land from about 530 to 331 B.C
Alexander the Great then conquered the Persian Empire
After Alexander's death in 323 B.C., his generals divided the empire. One of these generals, Seleucus, founded a dynasty that gained control of much of Palestine about 200 B.C
About 61 B.C the romans came in. (the Romans drove the Jews out of Jerusalem. The Romans named the area Palaestina, at about this time. The name Palaestina, which became Palestine in English)
A.D. (300's) by the Byzantine Empire
Jerusalem was conquered about 638 by the Caliph Umar (Omar) (who gave his protection to its inhabitants.)
The Seljuk Turks conquered Jerusalem in 1071
they were replaced by the Fatimid rulers of Egypt
then the crusaders came along and held it uptil 1187 (They captured Jaffa and Jerusalem in 1099, slaughtered many Jewish and Muslim defenders and forbade Jews to live in Jerusalem.)
In that year, the Muslim ruler Saladin conquered Jerusalem
The crusaders left Palestine for good when the Muslims captured Acre in 1291
in 1517, Palestine became part of the Ottoman Empire (The Turkish Sultan invited Jews fleeing the Spanish Catholic inquisition to settle in the Turkish empire, including several cities in Palestine)
In 1798, Napoleon entered the land. (The war with Napoleon and subsequent misadministration by Egyptian and Ottoman rulers, reduced the population of Palestine. Arabs and Jews fled to safer and more prosperous lands)
During World War I (1914-1918) An Ottoman military government ruled Palestine
The Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916 called for part of Palestine to be under British rule, part to be placed under a joint Allied government, and for Syria and Lebanon to be given to the France
In November 1917, before Britain had conquered Jerusalem and the area to be known as Palestine.
During world war 2, the jews started illegal immigration to Palestine from occupied Europe
The Balfour Declaration -:stating Britain's support for the creation of a Jewish national home in Palestine
The Biltmore Declaration: (This was not simply a return to the Balfour declaration repudiated by the British White Paper, but rather a restatement of Zionist aims that went beyond the Balfour declaration, and a determination that the British were in principle, an enemy to be fought, rather than an ally)

Partition - The United Nations Special Commission on Palestine (UNSCOP) recommended that Palestine be divided into an Arab state and a Jewish state.
The War of Independence - 1948 War : took place as soon as the partition solution was passed by the UN.

(and from then on we all know what happend. )

Maybe you dont want to call it an invasion, but what do you call it , when one nation seizes anothers land, they have the deeds to the land, there fore fathers had worked on those lands, but yet they shall have to give it up because thousands of years ago, it belonged to the jews........

The Jews did the dirty work of kicking the British out thats why overall.. people look at it like Israel deserves land because they just came out and did it. The Palestinians didnt... you really think it's fair that a people free a land from foreign rule and then have to give it up??
i know that nowadays it looks like the Palestinians could or should have kicked the British out and made their claim to that land themselves. But the fact is that they didnt... those Jews really pioneered those terrorist tactics. You gotta give them credit. If you cant give them credit then you have to come clean and confess that you are biased.
i'm not biased at all. I'm not on the Israelis side at all... i do know that they cross the line alot of times. But you cant really make them stop from a International point of view because they do have that concern for basic safety.
The fact of the matter is that Israel is there to stay, Palestinians need to move on forward and get these idiots in power out. These idiots want all palestinians to hold out and be militant towards Israel to keep them in power. If they really put someone in power that really cared for their people he'd be negotiating with Israel the next day.
But you have to stop the intifadahs that lead only to the seizure of more land.
Believe me, i have strong suspicions that Israel would be grabbing land even without the fighting.....but with no pretext and no reason to be grabbing land they'd have no US support. No US equipment, at least not high profile things such as jets, helicopters and tanks. They'd have to stop taking land and eventually open up the doors to giving land back. They'd still be there but they wouldnt be as dominant as they are now.

I agree with Ahmed Dijonade Israel should be wipe out of the map if that's really what he said. You know the media likes to hype things up and people play their part as repeaters post this rhetoric bs on message board trying to legitimate a attack on Iran.Israel has over 400 NUCLEAR WAR HEADS and ppl don't want Iran to have nuclear energy, what a bunch of bollocks! The bigger the problem the more money it generates.Nuke it,carpet bomb it,release biochemical weapons and blame it on your enemy.I'm sick and tired of seeing all the nations of the world jumping on Israel dick and following they're foreign policies lol and some of yall think the jews don't control the world?Shit I used to work at my city's airport and they warned me to never approach a Israelly plane for they may shoot me in the head.Fuck Israel but not it's people for they as ignorant as most americans that believe this war on terror is a just cause worth fighting for.

All you hear in the fcuking media is war on terror, war on terror, global warming ,global warming ,global warming
Paris Hilton ,Paris HiltonParis Hilton ,Paris HiltonParis Hilton ,Paris HiltonParis Hilton ,Paris Hilton ,war on terror war on terror, war on terror ,war on terror ,global warming ,global warming ,global warming!!! All while your boarders are wide OPEN,your dollar is going DOWN(this is a booming opportunity for foreign countries to buy your business's hahahaha the U.S is soon becoming a 3r world country with the highest level of illiteracy rate for a industrial nation not to mention super power) and our currency is going UP.America the best democracy money can buy

So keep talking how Iran is such a threat to our freedoms while your motherland is being gangbang raped left and right and soon to be ruled by foreign interests. It's all good though ,the road to hell is paved with good intentions.Keep sucking on your thumb.

The border here in the US has always been open so whats your point?? And second Israel may have 400 nuclear warheads but they aren't going to use them to intimidate and completly dominate the middle east like Iran is sure to try and do. Put your money on that cuz thats what they plan to do with their nuclear power.

I am not so sure if Iran would use them cause that would mean the destruction of one of the holiest places of Islam, the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aksa Mosque. Thats almost like if Christians would nuke Rome.
If things get crazy enough it could be though

the hate of Israel was present way before 1946, the date of the first map above, so you are incorrect if you think the middles east, arabs and muslims hate Israel because of land they acquired. Dont get it twisted. That hate predates any land acquitions and it certainly goes back prior to 1946. And as a geographer, those maps above are not correct. I would love ot know who published it. For example, The Sinai penisula was once Israle territory, but they gave it back to Egypt after the 6-day war when about 6 muslim countries invaded Israel in the 1960s and lost, so Israel took land including the Sinai but they gave it back.

Most of that land acquision are the resluts of lost wars by the muslims. If they leave the Jes alone, and the Jews leave the Arabs alone, it is a done deal, but that will never happen.

There is no such thing as a "Palestinian". The name of that part of the world has been Palestine for millenia. The area has been populated by Arabs, Jews, Christians etal. NO such thing as a Palestinian. The name was made up to promote another "struggle" against oppression.
