Young man fatally shot in Remington area

A man in his early 20s was shot yesterday in Baltimore's Remington neighborhood and died later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, a city police spokesman said.
The victim, who has not been identified, was found about 1 a.m. in the 2900 block of Miles Ave., near 29th Street. Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman, said the man had been shot several times.
It was the city's 146th homicide this year, compared with 127 the same time last year, police said.
Harris said police have no suspects and know of no motive.

Man, 24, fatally shot in Better Waverly while driving his car

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed early yesterday as he was driving on Ellerslie Avenue in North Baltimore's Better Waverly neighborhood, city police said.
The victim, George Wilson, of the 700 block of Gorsuch Ave., was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital about 90 minutes after the 12:20 a.m. shooting, police said.
The shooting occurred in the 3100 block of Ellerslie Ave., a few blocks from Greenmount Avenue and East 33rd Street.
Police said Wilson, driving a late-model blue Cadillac, had just turned right onto Ellerslie Avenue from Gorsuch Avenue when an occupant of a dark sedan fired into the car, striking him in the head.
Police yesterday said the deaths of two men, both victims of separate and unrelated beatings in May, have been ruled homicides by the state medical examiner's office.
About noon May 19, police responding to a report of a dead man in a room at the Executive Inn in the 3600 block of Pulaski Highway found the body of a nude man on the floor.
In the room, police found packaging material for narcotics.
After an investigation and an autopsy, the man's death was ruled a homicide Wednesday.
Police said the man, 35, lived in Northwest Baltimore, but were withholding his name until family members had been notified.
Police said the man had a criminal record that included arrests for kidnapping, carjacking, robbery, assault and narcotics violations.
Also yesterday, the state medical examiner's office released the cause of death of a 40-year-old man found lying naked and bleeding from multiple injuries in the 1800 block of Presstman St. about 4:30 a.m. May 23.
Police said the man died two days later at a hospital. The state medical examiner's office yesterday listed the cause of death as a homicide by a beating with an unknown weapon.
The victim's name also was being withheld pending notification of his family.
As of yesterday, the city recorded 149 homicide so far this year. The number of homicides for the same time last year was not available.
