Officer Who Killed His Wife Found Dead In New York

(WJZ) BALTIMORE Homicide investigators hoping to get answers from correctional officer Donald Webb Jr. won't be getting any. The Baltimore man was found dead in Watertown, located in upstate New York, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Webb was wanted for murder since the shooting death of his wife Cynthia inside the family's home on West Lombard Street Friday. Police say Webb almost killed his stepson, too.

"As he descended the stairs, he encountered the 13-year-old son, who was also his stepson, and shot him multiple times also before fleeing the scene," said Baltimore City Police Officer Troy Harris.

Doctors at Johns Hopkins are treating the teenager, who is expected to survive.

Webb worked for the Division of Correction for 17 years, most recently at the Baltimore City Correctional Center, where he was a shift supervisor.

"There was no indication that there was anything wrong in Lieutenant Webb's life. That's why many people here are devastated to find out that this occurred," said Major Priscilla Doggett.

Doggett says the weapon did not come from his job.

"No officer within the Division of Correction is assigned a weapon that is carried home," she said.

Police are still tracking down the weapon's origin as they wait for testing to see if the suicide weapon was also used in the murder.
