A pregnant woman and her boyfriend who abducted her six children from a foster home in the Bronx a week ago were arrested Wednesday in Baltimore, police said.
The children - ages 14, 13, 9, 6, 2 and 6 months - had been found in Baltimore and were being returned to New York, where they had been living in foster care, the New York Police Department said.
Madeline Cotto, who is five months pregnant, and Malik Martin were arrested by Baltimore police and were awaiting transfer back to New York, the NYPD said.
Baltimore police did not immediately release information on the case. It was unclear whether the couple had lawyers, and there was no listed telephone number at their Bronx home.
Cotto, 28, had lost custody of the six children, who were being raised by their grandmother in the Bronx. Police did not release information on why Cotto lost custody of the children and how they were found.
Cotto is the biological mother of all six, but they have different fathers. New York police said she and Martin had forcibly taken the children from their foster home on July 24.
