Nuestra Familia aka the NF

There are many that believe California's Prison Rehabilitation System and other systems around the world have more sinister purpose outside of incarceration. Discuss prison topics here in California, throughout the United States and Internationally.

I dunno much about Oakland but theres alot of shit going down hard there. Not only Norte/Sure but also Border Brothers, not quite sure if there the same ones as Texas which is a prison gang in Tejas. The thing about Oakland is its so diverse that you have all kinds of ethnic gangs. Chicano, Black, Asian and all of them blast each other. Perhaps someone else can speak on the gangs in Oaktown.

One of the oldest gangs in So Cal are the Black Angels (Ontario?), as well as White Fence as well as Hoyo Maravilla. No Varrio in thier name.
Early San Jo gangs were names like Latin Dukes, Latin Lords, The Aztecs, Spades, so on and so forth. Homies back then wore sir jackets, not flannels and pendletons.

Okay, if I get you right... these early 70's gang names were the predecessor name to was would be renames varrio so and so, when they started establishing under the Norte flag in the late 70's.

Those mid to late 70's days in San Jo-South Bay had a real Lowrider movement, as I understand it.

I heard through the grapevine from an old timer from "Sal Si Puedes" and I'm assumming he was talking about the 50s-and maybe the 60s, that the San Jose Pachucos really were not like the ones from LA.

surenos hated by blacks/asians/nortenos, some asians will hang with surenos, most homies though dont like em, from what i see, the whole norteno vs sureno is crackin up there, but its not crazy, most of the crazy comes from drug crews/projects/drug wars blacks vs blacks, same ol shit, but the norteno vs sureno isnt some joke, its crackin though.

I've been reading most of this gigantic thread and thought I would chime in, I'm 36yrs old now, so I guess you can call me a Veterano or OG, or whatever.
I'm put in my work and happily retired.
I grew up in Sunnyvale and can remember how banging was back in the 80's and 90's. This thread has been mostly about San Jo but there there quite a few other hoods in other towns as well.
Biggest Sunnyvale gang which went back to the late 70's was V.V.S (Varrio Via Sol)
Our clicka was V.G.F st Varrio Grande Fir St. East Side S-Vale
Back in the day the main rivals of S-Vale was Mountain View (V.M.V) and WS Santa Clara (V.T.V Varrio TecatosVille) Alviso (BALS) Barrio Alviso Locos
Even Milpitas had a lil click called "Sunny Hills", I think.
But city on city and Hood on hood beef died down in the early 90's and a lot of the younger homies banned together against the Sureno incursion.

We used to go all over though, we kicked it in San Jo, Salas, Modesto, Mountain View, Santa Clara, we had homies all over and there weren't really
any Surenos, not even the "paisa" kind. The only ones we had heard about was Poco Way and that was it.
The hoods I remember in San Jo were: Lomas, CPL, East Side Hoods, BMLs, Palmas, Horseshoe, NSP (North Side Posse), Varrion Brown Pride, VSJ and to go back even farther there used to be the East Side Boys and San Jose Boys which were gangs of mixed homies, Chicano, Filipinos, etc.

Heres a piece of History for you, a long time ago I chillen with a homie from CPL and their original name was Latin Lords in the 70's.
Conversely, the Sunnyvale Gang that would become V.V.S was called EPPA. The leader of V.V.S , a homie named "Chuco" RIP, later became
president fo the South Bay chapter of the Dukes Car Club.
HWD in Hayward and FMT from Fremont were also some big varrios.
Gilas at one time I think was called Varrio 500 or something like that because they were 500 deep in Gilroy.
Why do you think so many eNe's hated Alviso? Did they always start stuff with others? I heard Colonia Maravilla was Capitol Park's 1st generation, & now there is LLLS. Los Latin LordS or locos, are supposedly related to CPLS. I think Varrio 500 is ESG.

Hell, way back in the day, homies used to wear panos of all colors. Some neighborhoods even had their own color. You would see old San Jo cholo with blue pendletons and old sureno cholos wearing red pendletons, this was in the 70's. Way before the Eme/NF war trickled down onto the Calles.
From what I understand NSP turned into VSJ, I guess some of the homies didn't like the "posse" name since it sound too hip hop or black, isn't that ironic with the way youngsters are nowadays. I think East Side Hoods changed name to something else as well.
Are you talking about Brown Pride Homies? If that's the Posse I'm thinking of, then they're still around & definately have members still into rap. I think ESH broke up.

Yeah. you're a little bit older then me but didnt cholos wear a lot more of the neutral colors up into the early 90's.

If I'm not mistaken, some members of Lords and JSP Orginials, graffiti crews and NSP established VSJ around 1990.

I knew an NSSJ Filipino dude who moved to Sunnyvale and got into Outlaw Brothers, do you anything about was happen with them or CWA?

East Side Hoods has been gone for sometime from what has been said.
JSP started in the 1980's, & I think Lords to. VSJ I think did start in the 1990's. VSJ was in NS 1st? They were in ES a while back. I still see CWA wearing their colors.

To Answer "j", Varrio Via Sol has always been around in one form or other. There was a time when Sunnyvale, as small is it is, was divided up into Neighborhoods. Varrio Fairwood Locos (North Side), Varrio Orchard Gardens, Varrio Grande Fir (East Side), Washington Park Locos (West Side) and couple of other ones. Once Surenos started popping up they all went back under the Varrio Via Sol banner.
The last thing I heard about a year ago, the homies from Sunnyvale and Mountain View got together and formed an alliance to take out the Surenos. Just 3 weeks ago, some nortenos killed a sureno in Sunnyvale by some S-vale vatos. In related news, that Sunnyvale homie the stabbed was killed by SVPD a couple of days ago when they were investigating the stabbing. I guess he was gonna get taken alive. See the two articles posted below:

MediaNews SUNNYVALE

Man, 21, is fatally stabbed

in gang brawl, police say

Sunnyvale police are seeking a suspect who fatally stabbed a 21-year-old man Friday night in what neighbors and police described as a large gang brawl.

About 11:32 p.m., police responded to calls about the fight on the 1100 block of Ayala Drive. Neighbors said the melee had lasted about five minutes before Pablo Rosales of Sunnyvale was stabbed numerous times.

After being stabbed, Rosales managed to flee
[Advertisement Here]
the scene with four friends in a white, four-door Saturn, police said. But he died in the Hilton Gardens hotel parking lot in Mountain View, where the group, allegedly Sureño gang members, called 911.

"It's an ongoing investigation," said Lt. David Pitts of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. "We've been working all weekend."

Some teenagers who saw the fight, but refused to give their names, said a group drove by, threw bottles at them and later tried to fight them. They said they managed to fend the group off, but as Rosales was returning to the car, another group, members of the rival Norteños gang, intercepted him, threw him to the ground, started beating him with bricks and later stabbed him, the witnesses said.

Heres the article about the cops shooting the suspects in the stabbing death.

There actually is a Sur Town down south, so I wonder if VST copied another varrio's name this time. I can't be positive on them being here in 1973, but they were here in the 1970's.

Varrio Sureno Town did not exist in the 70's. If it did, its was not called VST and it was not a Sureno hood as hardly anyone knew what that was anyway. Norte/Sure in the Bay Area didn't jump off til the 80's. I can't pretty much Garuantee back then there was not a BAY AREA born sureno.
I already explained, they copied Vicky'S Town. What's a sir jacket? I'm pretty sure I've seen, or maybe even owned 1. Pendletons/flannels are pretty old school to.

Yeah, I'd say the oldest San Jose graffiti crews came when Breaking-Poppin was starting to fade in 85 like the Lords crew... NSP~JSP came around that time but probably a little bit after, there were a lot of others graffiti crews starting around the same time too.

I think VSJ started within 89-91' their main spot was the across from the 7-Eleven on 6th & St. James and the close by streets, they were just SW from VNH varrio. for some reason VSJ is or was the most known NS varrio, maybe because they were on the ES a little after too? or and becuase VSJ had some solid Homies?
