ABOUT THE FILM

The Forgotten City is a soul stirring documentary taking place in Buffalo, New York exploring race relations, segregation, crime, and politics. Through exclusive breathtaking footage and one-on-one interviews with many citizens and some of Buffalo's most influential leaders, The Forgotten City exposes the bitter truth about Buffalo and all inner cities. It challenges stereotypes, encourages change and shakes up the status quo. Buffalo was once a booming city; one of richest in the United States and is now a place where crime, racism and poverty plague a once great city.

This film is a personal journey of two young filmmakers who forged an unlikely partnership following a 2001 murder; one a friend of the victim and the other a friend of the murderer. Instead of waging war, they embarked on a documentary film project that would take them into the heart of Buffalo's most dispossessed communities and crime ridden streets. The result of their exploration is a documentary film with a raw, hard-hitting, unblinking first-hand look at the way some of us really live in America. This film brings to light the racial turmoil and economic hardships that have become the lifestyle of so many living in Buffalo’s inner city.

The Forgotten City, however, is not simply a film about the problems that plague Buffalo's inner city; it can easily be the story of any American city and is a film that everyone should see.

THE PRODUCTION TEAM

Korey Green and Addison Henderson of Knuckle City Films shared a vision to create a documentary about Buffalo and forged a partnership to create The Forgotten City.

Addison Henderson
Addison Henderson has a background in acting and filmmaking. He began formal training as an actor at the prestigious HB Studios in New York City, where he studied with world renowned instructors Edward Morehouse, Austin Pendleton and Eleanor Harris and appeared in various onstage productions. As a director Addison has directed for the stage, the most famous being “Blood Knot”, a two man play about South African Brothers, a play in which he also starred. In March of 2005, Addison directed his first film “Step Away from a Note” in which he also played title role. Since then, he has gone on to direct and star in two short films. Most recently, in 2005 Addison directed and produced “The Harvest of a Continent”, a documentary in Ghana, West Africa.

Korey Green
Korey Green, though a newcomer to filmmaking, has been a resident of Buffalo his entire life. Korey grew up on the tortured East side of Buffalo and has lived the “inner city perspective” on a daily basis. Korey believes that this documentary will not only change people in Buffalo, but throughout the nation. He believes The Forgotten City, “will be something that everyone can relate to because these topics have no boundaries”.

I went and saw this movie at the high school and it was REALLY good. I was kind of dissapointed that they didn't mention anything about the Falls but the main focus was on Buffalo, and these guys are trying to get this movie shown nationally which would shed spotlight on what Buffalo is really going through right now.

It was really deep.....

when the dope money runs out, and the indians stop drinking booze to drown their sorrow, and all the immigrants get enough numbers and remember what America has done to their countries, then whats gonna happen in this country?

Thats part of the reason they made it, maybe if enough people across the country can see it they can see what is happening in their own communities they can do something.
