ARE BLACK WOMEN SCARING OFF THEIR MEN?

Have you met this woman? She has a good job, works hard, and earns a good salary. She went to college, got her master's degree, and she is intelligent. She is personable, articulate, well-read, interested in everybody and everything. Yet, she's single.

Or maybe you know this one. She is active in the church, faithful, and committed. She sings in the choir, serves on the usher board, attends every committee meeting. Loves the Lord and knows the Word.

You'd think that with her command of the Scriptures and the respect of her church members, she'd have a marriage as solid as a rock. But again, no husband.

Or perhaps you recognize the community activist. She's a black lady, or as she prefers, an African American woman on the move. She sports a short natural, sometimes cornrow braids, or even dreadlocks.

She's an organizer, a motivator, and a dynamo. Her work for her people speaks for itself, organizing women for a self-help collective, raising funds for a community cause, educating others around a new issue in South Africa. Black folks look up to her, and white Folks know she's a force to be reckoned with. Yet once again, the men leave her alone.

What do these women have in common?

-They are Boring us half to death! This is a hard thing to say, because as a "positive" black man I have a strong admiration for strong black women doing positive things. Unfortunetately, this tends to lead a level of social conservatism that can be a huge turnoff to many african american men dont share these these exact core values. I understand that people have a certain comfort zone. But for many "positive" black women this comfort zone can be extremely small and restrictive.
I personally need someone who is educated and just, as well as nice piece when I step out at night. I dont know if it's just my city (and I live in big one with LOTS of black people) or just me, but I dont often see this combination in many black women. And they few that I have met have been very well spoken for.
So I date outside my race more often than not. It's nothing personal, and I'm not overly atracted to white women. I just dont see this combination often enough to change my view. And living in large city, and being progressive and cosmopolitan,
this is a large issue.

I would say if a woman with self esteem and a grip of herself is scaring a man away, thats pretty pathetic of the man. On the other hand a woman who always puts herself above anything and walks over dead bodies for her own benefit is bs too.

what i read was if a woman is anything but a sex object or a primarily sexual entity then a man will find her boring.
and that remainds me of that 70s campaign... "... a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicylce"... but that canotes a whole other can of worms, or no worms, should i say?

um,, which part do you disagree with? becuse I thought that was a lame campaign.. but i can see where some women feel that men are more trouble than they are worth.

I for one think that a man is pretty useful in a woman's life... women can become pretty "needy" when they can get a man to do some undesirable task.
Its when the man wants to lean on a woman and be a sponge and play the "sextoy" role that women get disgusted.

Well i think everybody sees that different, but yea all in all i dont necessarily need anyone to live my life, but its nice to have someone.
And i am not really wasting too much time thinking about the men reducing women to sextoys, cause that shit is older then mankind and kinda lame.

Whoa, whoa, whoa slow down. Are you trying to tell me women aren't just for sexual gratification? You mean my wife can do "other" things too?! What the hell! Why wasn't I informed of these new developments.
