To bring you up to speed a bit; Pete Simone is the boss now, Vince Picone is dead (car crash)... a few other soldiers you mention are deceased or incarcerated, and there is a whole new generation you don't mention at all... not that I've done any "research" on this, my info is personal knowledge only...drop me a line if you'd like to chat about this...

These charts include guys who are inactive, in prison, on parole, etc. If you only include active guys on the street, your charts constantly need updating. As far as Los Angeles goes, it sounds like you are as up to date as anyone else. There is a poster on another forum who knew a lot of the LA guys personally but that was a while back. Not much current news. To quote The Sopranos, the family is now a glorified crew.

doobeez wrote:westside, isn't Allie Boy Persico up for indictment? The way I see it, "The Snake" is the Colombo Boss in name regardless of his 100 year prison sentence, which would take heat away from the Family as to who the feds think is running them on the street but he actually wanted Allie to step in and run the show.Which caused beef's all over the outfit. I thought I had read that Aliie Boy got out of one Grand Jury situation, but right back into another. What happened to Hugh "Apples" Macintosh? A trusted ally of the Persico's? Also, PM me where you get your information I have read about and been fascinated with the LCN as far back as I can remember, and this new generation, with all the snitching going on, it's hard to keep track of who's with who now. I understand the membership books have been closed now for a few years and the Families are trying to get everything organized and straight. I hope this is the case..Thanks in advance.

The New York families closed their books in the early 1930's, reopened them in 1954, closed them again in 1957, and then reopened them again in 1974, and they've been open ever since. Closing their books at about 20 years at a time caused the families to become much smaller in size, as well as have having age gaps.doobeez wrote:Westside might be able to help out more with this, but due to the large amount of made guys flipping, the Families have had to go back to being more selective as to who gets proposed for membership.
The large number of guys flipping has caused the families to become more selective over the last 15 years or so as to who they make a member. But it varies from family to family. For instance, the hardest family to get made into is the Genovese family. Guys that couldn't get made with the Genovese will sometimes get made into one of the other families. While there are exceptions, most prospective Genovese members have to wait a lot longer to be made. And two other members have to vouch for them with their lives. As a result, many members are older, more experienced, and that is why they are the strongest family in New York and the nation.

doobeez wrote: That probably explains why in the "mob rats" topic you started, I read thst the Genovese Family has had only 3 SOLDIERS flip..Very impressive in this day and age. Nice to see that some soldati still believe in and respect OMERTA...Hard to believe that the Dons of today are ratting and turning State's evidence..Lucky Luciano is spinning.

icegoodbarbPresident wrote:I've seen fbi reports that in 2002 this was the amount of members made that year by each family
Genovese-9 2008 Reports
Gambino-8 Genovese-12
Bonanno-4 Gambino-10
Lucchese-3-5 Bonanno-7-9
Colombo-3-5 Colombo-7-9
Lucchese-5-6
I f you make 12 guys a year like genovese you probably have twice that go to jail. Even though it seems like alot it's really not. Most are just underling soldiers or a few make capos. If it rises a little every year and depending how old they are the mafia could retaine some strength. Does ANYONE KNOW ANY NEWLY MADE MAFIA SOLDIERS FROM ANY FAMILY. I KNOW ONE FROM Buffalo (Carmine Spigotaliano) made in 2007

frank from the falls wrote:In early 2007, about a year ago, it was confirmed that the Buffalo Family made 6 new guys. The general rule in NYC is that they only 'make' new guys when older guys retire. Outside of NYC, it's up to each boss who they make.
Last year it was said that 6 new members of the Buffalo Family were made. 2 reside in Niagara Falls, 2 from Hamilton, Ontario, and 2 from Utica. 4 were young guys (two were described as junkies). The other 2 were said to be old guys who earned their marks back in the day...
It's a changing world...
You only need to be half Italian now too...

No. The LA family, or what's left of it, is nothing more than the size of a single crew at this point. They're not in a position to "oversee" anything.
