He continued, "the big challenge for Asian organized crime and Albanian organized crime is having the finances to pay for a load of heroin, to pay for a load of cocaine, and then have the facilitator get it into the country, and then have the means of distribution, which the Italians have had in the past."
Russian and Albanian groups "are more like criminal enterprises than organized crime," observes agent Dennis Bolles, who heads the squad investigating them.

There have been many articles - most of them based out of the Balkans - that have claimed that the Albanians were the most powerful. So one saying that they are the second "biggest" or "most powerful" doesn't surprise me. It's really not accurate though. Approximately 80% of the heroin destined for Europe is smuggled through the Balkan routes, which is mostly controlled by the Albanians. Albanian crime groups have also rapidly expanded into other parts of Europe in recent years. But the Albanians don't operate on the same global level as the Italians, Russians, Colombians, and Chinese.
No FBI report has said that. Like I said above, there have been FBI reports that have discussed the rapid expansion of Albanian crime groups in Europe but not at the expense of the Russians or Italians. And as I had to tell JohnnyRed about a million times, there was a single CNN article that cited an unidentified FBI source that claimed the Albanians were replacing La Cosa Nostra in New York. But that article was based on the Rudaj gang, which as we know, was taken down in 2006.Recent FBI report shows that Albanian mafia overtook the Russian and Italian mafia in New York. Same went for several European cities, including London, Berlin and Prague.
You are correct that the Albanians are a major force in Europe. But not so much in the U.S. up to the present time and the CNN article above doesn't say otherwise. As I've also said many times, the FBI has identified Albanian crime groups in about a dozen U.S. cities. They are usually small, tight-knit and involved in street level rackets.i dunnnno aboutt that, there talking about the albanian mafia in europe not america... and there saying its one of the strongest they have a stronghold on the drug world which makes alot of money.. so im guessing there pretty strongg.. but even in america i heard there gettin strong i read a article on CNN which is a huge Networkk... Also notice the excerpt from the above article - "The Italians may still control the lion's share of illegal organized crime activity, but competitors are vying for a piece of the action."
Also from the accompanying video to the article - "Italian organized crime here in the United States is still the most dominant organized crime problem that effects American society."

The Italians and Russians dominate organized crime in Europe. Then its the Turks, Albanians, or Eurasian, etc.
