List of New York five families members

Unread post by thewestside » June 19th, 2008, 1:05 am

This is a partial list of the members of the five New York families courtesy of poster Pogo the Clown. Obviously it's not all inclusive, as many members are not listed. But many of the members in each of the families are listed, including all members of the administrations and captains. The ages for many of them are included. IP means in prison. Sometimes their release date is included with this. UI means under indictment.

The Rizzuto organization broke off from the Bonanno family in 1999 after Captain George Sciscia was killed. Former Bonanno Underboss Salvatore Vitale verified this in his testimony.

Sciascia was killed on orders of Bonanno Boss Joseph Massino after he accused Captain Anthony "TG" Graziano of being a drug addict. Massino felt Sciascia was questioning his authority and Sciascia was summoned to a meeting in the Bronx with Captain Patrick "Patty from the Bronx" DeFilippo where he was shot to death and left on the street.

Yes, they are independent now. They had been more or less independent for a long time, as their links with the Bonanno family in New York weakened with time. Besides, the Rizzuto organization has always been a Sicilian one, not an Italian-American one. Their main loyalties are to their Sicilian Mafia clan.

I don't know where to find Vitale's testimony in it's entirety. There are various excerpts of it in some of the books on the Bonanno family that have come out over the last five years or so.

Very nice lists, here's some additions to the Genovese family:

held by the Acting Boss of the Genovese Family, Dom Cirillo, with persons known and
unknown. During this surveillance, Cirillo entered the Hotel at approximately 2:15 p.m.,
followed shortly thereafter by Genovese Soldier Paul Rogina."

He is also part of the Springfield crew and was busted with them in the late 1980's. But I couldn't verify if he is made or not.
He appears to be a Soldier in one of the family's New Jersey crews.
He is also a Solider in the Springfield crew and was busted a few years ago but is out now.
His actual name is Alexander Conigliaro, who is listed. He is a member of Matthew Ianniello's crew and was busted a few years ago with Joey Ida (former Consigliere Jimmy Ida's brother) for running a fencing operation with the DeCavalcante family.
He was a Captain in the early 1990's. He was busted with another Genovese Captain Salvatore "Sally Dogs" Lombardi and just got out in 2005 after doing 10 years in prison.

Anthony CONIGLIARO (born about 1938) and Alex (born 1962) are two different individuals (probably related), I seen both identified as made members.

Felix Tranghese is listed as as a soldier on page 391, can't find it online however. Also listed as a soldier is Mario Fiore along with the Scibelli brothers.

Isn't Quiet Dom the Acting Boss/Boss of Genovese?

Oh, and from what I've read( Michael Franzese's book) Sonny isn't underboss, he got demoted while he was out on parole for a brief period, as Persico feared him to be too powerful and a threat to his leadership.

Dominick Cirillo was first made Acting Boss when Vincent Gigante was convicted in 1997. However, he had a heart attack a short time later so he had to step down. Frank "Farby" Serpico was then made Acting Boss from 1998 until he died in 2002. Afterwards, Ernest "Ernie" Muscarella became Acting Boss until he was convicted in 2003. By then, Cirillo had recovered and resumed his position as Acting Boss again until he was convicted in 2006. From 2006 until last year when he was indicted, Daniel "Danny the Lion" Leo was Acting Boss. As of now, it is not known whether someone else has filled the Acting Boss position. There has been no official Boss since Gigante died in 2005. Although he is old, ailing, and basically retired, Venaro "Benny Eggs" Mangano remains official Underboss. And although he is in prison for life, James "The Little Guy" Ida remains official Consigliere.
Oh, and from what I've read( Michael Franzese's book) Sonny isn't underboss, he got demoted while he was out on parole for a brief period, as Persico feared him to be too powerful and a threat to his leadership.
Michael Franzese wrote his book back in 1991 - kind of an outdated source, wouldn't you say? Anyway, Sonny Franzese was Underboss for a few years back in the 1960's. It's true that Persico always saw him as a rival. But Sonny was never a strong threat to Persico's leadership because he has spent most of his life in prison. Sonny was made Underboss again in 2004 sometime after he was paroled. But continuing his streak of bad luck, he was arrested for violating his parole about a year ago or so and was recently named in the Colombo family indictment earlier this month. The indictment verified that he is currently the family's Underboss.

thewestside,

Here's a few Genovese members/associates I don't really know what to make of, perhaps you got some thoughts.

CARMINE SAGLIMBENE aka Johnny Lamps, a poster a few years back claimed he was made
Vincent Rizzo (mentioned in Joe Coffeys book as "made by Vito Genovese himself")
Salvatore Bellomo, father of Barney, supposedly made
Liborio Thomas Bellomo, a cousin of Barney, (NYtimes says member, Capeci says associate)
Carmine Zito (brother of Joe), mentioned in "Donnie Brasco"
Saverio Aiello (http://www.laborers.org/VAIRA_MEMO.html) " LCN member who is actually controlled by LCN member Orlando Caralluzo"

-
Ron Miceli, 40, (1992) and
Charles Trentacosta, 32,

"both of whom were described by the authorities as members of the Genovese crime family."
http://www.thelaborers.net/lexisnexis/a ... ension.htm

and

"The Brooklyn Properties were purchased from a member of the Genovese Organized Crime Family, Charles Trentacosta, and Trentacosta made a profit of $ 1,341,903.05 in the transaction."
http://www.thelaborers.net/court_cases/ ... -05-07.htm
-

Anthony Negri, Sr (proposed?)

"It's our understanding that if they ever open the [mob membership] books again, he will be one of the first ones inducted."
http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0314,r ... 987,5.html

Either the Genovese hasen't made anyone since 2003 or the prosecutor is just blowing smoke.

Sonny is now in his early 90's but is in relatively good shape for his age. If you haven't noticed, many of the mob's senior leaders are of advanced age, i.e. in their 60's, 70, 80's, etc. Sonny has more seniority in the Colombo family than most and he was only on parole. So he was a logical pick to become the family's Underboss. The problem was he met with other mob members too soon while still on parole, which got him busted. And like I said, on top of that he was just named in the indictment of a dozen family members and associates that also got Acting Boss Tommy Gieoli.
Richboy17 wrote:Didn't Sonny Franzese have something to do with Suge Knight and DeathRow. He supposbly threatened Suge Knight.
That story is from the book Born to the Mob by former LCN Associate Frank Saggio. Here is the excerpt from the book -

Over the next twenty years, Sonny was released on parole four times. Each time he was out he would violate the conditions of his strict parole usually by associating with known wiseguys. It was during one of Sonny's times out on parole in 1998 that Frankie was pulled in on one of his music deals. By then, the Colombo family soldier was 81 years old. Franzese was still as tough and deadly as ever; physically, he could have killed a man swiftly when he had to.

There was a meeting down in Marilou's. Sonny Franzese went down there to see them (music executives) over some business. Sonny's had a very strong hold on the music business for many years. Always did. I went down with him, his son Johnny, and other people. Johnny was getting involved with rap groups. And Sonny meets with these music guys.

Everybody thinks these rappers are running things. They weren't. Every one of them (the music executives) is kicking upstairs to some wiseguy someplace along the line. "This is the way it's gonna be," Sonny tells them.

Among the music executives at the meeting that night was Marion "Suge" Knight. Knight is the president of the premier hip-hop label Death Row Records. Knight, who has a reputation as a two fisted businessman, would later serve five years of a nine year sentence on assault related charges.

"My kid wants to do anything, you don't interfere, Sonny told them. My kid gets everything." Looking straight at Knight, Sonny said, "You interfere and you're going to have a serious headache a couple Tylenol aint' gonna clear up." Frankie found Knight a wannabe.

"He was a fat, well dressed jerk-off who thought he was a gangster until he got put in his place by a guy who would have buried him right there if he said the wrong thing - and Sonny would have."

Joe Isgro has been in the music business for years. Sal Pisello was too. They were both with the Gambino family. Thanks for the input, thewestside. My argument with Saverio Aiello was that since the report is from 1978 he was alive at that time, although I don't know if one can draw that assumption. The report could be describing past conditions.

Thanks again for the names Eld. As I originally mentioned, these updated charts of the five New York families are from a poster (Pogo the Clown) on another forum. He is basically the king of LCN charts. Among them he has -

Bonanno family - 1985 (Captains and Administration), 1991, 2001, Present Day

Colombo family - 1985 (Captains and Administration), 1991, Present Day

Gambino family - 1985 (Captains and Administration), 1990, Present Day

Genovese family - 1985 (Captains and Administration), 1990, Present Day

Lucchese family - 1985 (Captains and Administration), 1990, 1998, Present Day

Philadelphia family - 1977, 1986, 1998, Present Day

New Jersey family - 1983, 1997, 1999, Present Day

New England family - Present Day

Also past charts of Northeast Pennsylvania (Buffalo), Pittsburgh, Tampa, New Orleans, Kansas City, Cleveland, Los Angeles, etc.

If you come across any other current names, feel free to let me know.

I sent you a PM.

this is a very impressive list. It also seems to be accurate because it gels with many of the related news stories about mob crimes and court trials. Sometimes the media and law enforecement give the imression that all LCN members are either in jail or under indictment, but this database suggests the families are relatively healthy and probably raking a ton a cash.

One notable omission from the Colombo list is Franke 'The Bug' Sciortino, a feared mobster from Brooklyn/Staten Island. Anthony Casso mentioned him in the recent book, and was clearly wary of his reputation. He actually shook down Casso's wife for a about $100k back in 2004

Thanks for the additional name.

All of the New York Families have a lot of members in prison, but because of their size, they are able to continue to operate despite this.

Vincent LoScalzo is boss of what is left of the Tampa mob (Trafficante family). Other known remaining members are listed below.

Francisco "Frank" Albano
Antonio Amorelli
Ciro Bedami
Joseph Camero
Salvatore "Sam" Carollo
Joseph DiGerlando
Michael Napoli
Santo Jose Trafficante
James Valenti

In October of 2000, 19 members and associates of the Trafficante family’s South Florida faction were indicted on charges of fraud, loansharking, money laundering, and illegal gambling. The group had laundred millions of dollars through check cashing stores tied to New York families, including the proceeds from a $60 million pyramid scheme in South Carolina. In January of 2004, 8 people members and associates were indicted in a case involving $80 million worth of marijuana trafficked from Mexico to the United States since 1991.
