Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
Bruce Bowen and Raja Bell upset him the most, so it has to be out of them. But Rip Hamilton makes Kobe work harder, run around more, disrupts the lakers offense.

I think Artest gets under his skin too...

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
I was going to say that I didnt mention Artest is because Kobe gets under Artest skin, but now that I think about it, anyone that contains/fights with Kobe- he also gets under their skin too. Its called being physical.HiloBoy wrote:I think Artest gets under his skin too...
Alonso put up some good names.. but I think the only reason Hamilton and Prince gave Kobe a few problems is because of 'TEAM' defense, they had plenty of help, players that knew how to switch on screens, block shots, go after rebounds. San Antonio was also a defensive team. Houston another defensive team. Kirelinko is tall and linky, he's a good shot blocker and at times Utah played some good defense. I can't say Phoenix had a good defense to help out Raja Bell but he was getting torched when he got into the verbal/media thing with Kobe.

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
yeah ,thats right aint no best defender against him,the better team defense stops Kobe cause when you are the premier player of your era, there may not be a single defender of that caliber in the league.tysuave wrote:no one can guard kobe inless you conseder holdin him to 25 30 points as good D lol
Best Defender against Jordan?Magic?Bird?
Now,a rival or nemesis i can understand.Like Magic and Bird, and somebody got to lose, but aint nobody out there for ya boy Kobe.Ray Allen used to put up big numbers against Kobe.

T-Mac when he was in orlando was the closet thing to a rival he had.353 wrote:but aint nobody out there for ya boy Kobe.Ray Allen used to put up big numbers against Kobe.
remember when "T-mac or Kobe?" was a serious question and there were good arguments at the time for both.

Every year they try to compare someone different to Kobe Bryant, but McGrady 'never' had the defense Kobe had!
Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
The only cat that is close to Kobe and should be mentioned w/ him in the same sentence is.....drum roll please.....

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
Assuming you mean 00-01, 01-02- 02-03.. yeah- you're right they were basically equal. But thats the beauty of comparing athletes, some have good years, and some have good careers. While they were player hating on Kobe errr i mean comparing McGrady to Bryant, Kobe was collecting two championships during McGrady's best three years in the league.$outhPhillypuppet wrote:kobe never had the rebounding or post-up ability Mac had either.
I mentioned it before, i'm no basketball expert but as a fan and a gambler, I don't see the significance or too much care about a shooting guard posting up as long as he is a scorer. McGrady is 2 inches taller than Kobe and has played a lot at small forward thats why he average 1 rebound more than Kobe in 2 of those 3 years you speaking on. And has history has proven, anyone with a bad back is always a huge risk to suit up and/or perform on game day.

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
Hedo Turkoglu had a clean block on Koby from the back in tonight's game. Very rare to see Koby blocked like that.

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
I just realized I spelled his name wrong, and I used to love Kobe, but I never got back into him and his game after Shaq left to Miami. I just watched ESPN and saw Pietrus highlights and this guy aint no great player, but in game 3 he took it to Kobe and played the best possible defense that you can play on a guy that has the best jump shot fade in the league. basically Kobe has more shots that are impossible to defend, so I have to get this guy some credit. And maybe Phil Jackson is playing Kobe too much, because I say a Dwight Howard get a nice clean block/tip on a Kobe jumper and I just dont remember seeing Kobe blocked and challenged like this before.AllhoodPublications wrote:LMAO!!!!$outhPhillypuppet wrote:

Re: Best Defender against Koby Bryant
Dwight Howard is one of the premeire shot blockers in the league..
but as a lifetime laker Fan, and somewhat a Kobe Bryant Fan (On the court), he's been getting his shot blocked like this for years. Its rare, though it happens. Nothing new.
Kobe is only 6'6; taller defenders will block his shot when he goes inside. From the outside, a guy his height like Petrius for example, will find it much more difficult to block a Kobe Bryant jump shot.
The best defense against kobe Bryant is 'TEAM' defense. Otherwise they should just let Kobe get loose and defend the other 4 players and their chances of winning will increase.
