LOGAN.. DELHI.. ARTESIA-PILAR being among the oldest communities in the city.

Just like EAST LOS in LA COUNTY is filled with Mexican settlements and neighborhoods that gave rise to some of the oldest most renown and still in existence barrios, so too Santa Ana in Orange County is where barrios just as old as their East LA counterparts exist!

Were as East Los had La Maravilla, The Flats, and Barrio Simons, Santa Ana has Logan, Delhi, Santa Anita and Artesia-Pilar neighborhoods. These four barrios were the genesis of the later conglomerate of Chicano barrios that were to fill up the city in the later decades of the twentieth century. Santa Ana’s four separate barrios were located on opposite sides of town.

Logan

Considered to be the oldest, Barrio Logan came to be established on the East Side of Santa Ana. Logan is located adjacent to the Southern Pacific R&R, wedged in-between the Interstate 5 and the Atchinson-Topeka-Santa Fe tracks, centered on Logan Street with Logan Park at its core.

Logan’s barrio roots trace back to the 1880s with the founding of Santa Ana East; A commercial area next to the then new train depot. When Anglo business later dried out, the Mexican families, who had begun to settle in this area as day-laborers and agricultural hands in the surrounding groves, developed it into more than just a place to live, they developed it into the working-class neighborhood which by the early 1900s was home to the largest Mexican community in Santa Ana.

Delhi

The Delhi barrio formed on the south side of the city adjacent to the R&R tracks by the Holy Sugar Company factory. In present days map the neighborhood can be perfectly placed in-between Warner Avenue on the north, Main Street to the west, and the tracks on both the south and east, with Delhi Park at its center.

Delhi by the year 1920 had grown to incorporate some 100 families, and as the years went by, the barrio continued to attract more and more Mexican families. By 1928, when Delhi became incorporated into the city of Santa Ana, the barrio had already established its own lecheria (dairy mart), a planta de agua (water plant), and a’ escuelita (Mexican school). The barrio nevertheless continued to remain highly rural. Delhi grew with the influx of Mexican families who came fleeing the turmoil of the Mexican Revolution, and other families who followed the R&R for jobs. Many of those families settled in Delhi because it was one of the few places where Mexicans could buy land and plant.

With its lasting roots, Delhi spawned a barrio where the local neighborhood boys married with local neighborhood girls; where neighbors stood as Godparents at the bautizos (baptisms) of each other’s children. It was a neighborhood were its people worked in the near-by sugar fields, and at the sugar factory. Delhi was a neighborhood where folks sat outdoors in the evenings after a long day of hard work and partook with each other, and it was also a place where its residents built their own makeshift shacks and homes. The barrio didn’t have sidewalks and paved streets; it wasn’t until the 1950s that Delhi residents petitioned city hall -agreeing to raise their property taxes- in order to improve the area and pave the streets.

There existed a sweet nostalgia in this Delhi neighborhood, one of pre-modern times, a barrio bonded by old customs, tradition and heritage. This same bond is what brought together the whole community to build a church in 1927, and was rewarded later with its own named park.

Natoma Boys is a Viet gang and are mainly in Westminster. Santa Ana TRG occupied the same hood as Minnie St. Lopers for many years and have surprisingly lived peacefully side by side.

True, was just letting Casper know Natoma is an Asian gang that's why they're not listed. And was sharing a side note about LPS and TRG sharing that spot. Interesting fact since they were hated by LA Mexican gangs tough in the 90's. I appreciate you sharing this list Wolf. It's a part of OC history as much as it is LA, SD history.

There's talk that some of those west side santa ana varrios were once part of FxTroop, but over the years they started having pedos and broke off

some varrios like golden west, little brook, highland, walnut, townsend and myrtle have been there for a few decades, and they do have a reputation

dog town was there before a lot of the newer varrios in that part of town, in the same area of lil hood, diamond, townsend and golden west; both lil hood and diamond have made the newsclips

other varrios like silver acres are old., real old, and from sar you have other notable varrios that broke off of them, fifth street diablos and 17th street., and right next door south of them midle side has been there since the fifties

nowadays you have a ton of new gangs all over the city map; some of them barely known; some of them making headways
like the kpc's, the crooks, the cartels, and the alley boys., lopers not that long ago was a paisa gang, but they're big now

and that whole minnie street area and side of town is home to a lot of crazy gente

CRAZY LITTLE STONERS

Three members of the Crazy Little Stoners, a small but violent drug-dealing gang, are hanging out on a ficus-lined residential street in Santa Ana, America’s largest predominantly Spanish-speaking city (located in what was once solidly Republican Orange County). A white truck filled with members of a local graffiti crew slowly pulls up to check out their gang affiliation; since CLS and the taggers are not at war, the truck passes on.

Salvador, 16, Casimiro, 16, and Michael, 15, joined CLS three years ago and promptly racked up serious criminal records, including convictions for armed robbery and burglary that would have sent them to state prison had they not been juveniles. Casimiro, in red love beads and baggy shorts, is a short, self-consciously cocky tough (“I’ve got people doing my homework ’cause I show ’em my fist,” he brags); he faces 20 years if caught again. Salvador, the most articulate of the three, has a nine-and-a-half-year suspended sentence hanging over him. Michael has been kicked out of school for fighting and now attends an alternative school—but not for long, all evidence suggests. “They don’t teach us nothing; I didn’t know how boring it would be,” he says sullenly. Salvador claims that their long suspended prison terms have taught them a lesson and that they’re “done” with the criminal life; now they just want to make steady money with a job, he says.

The family situations of these young gangbangers are typical of California’s lower-class Hispanic population, characterized by high rates of single parenthood, teen pregnancy, and welfare use. Michael’s unmarried mother is on welfare. The mother of Salvador’s 16-year-old girlfriend recently sent her to Washington State to keep her away from him—too late, since she is already pregnant. “If she has the kid, I’ll stop messing around and take care of it,” he says. Salvador’s father was arrested in January for drug possession and deported after serving time in the Orange County jail; he is presently planning his return. Casimiro claims that his parents tolerate his gang activities: “I be going to parks and I be like, I was like kind of nervous in the beginning but I was like, ‘Get used to it,’ but they were cool with it,” he says. Perhaps Casimiro is accurately conveying his family’s attitudes toward his gang-banging; social workers in Santa Ana and Los Angeles tell of multigenerational gang families in which the fathers smoke pot and take meth with their children. Equally likely, however, is that Casimiro’s parents oppose criminality but cannot keep him away from the streets.

If any of these Crazy Little Stoners is going to turn his life around, Salvador seems to have the greatest chance, based on his ability to make steady eye contact and engage with an interlocutor. He “thinks about” going to college, he says, adding, without irony, that he likes studying criminal justice for “what it teaches you about the world.” Some children do, in fact, put aside their gang affiliations after their first encounters with the law; others muddle through their young adult years in a dim, semi-criminal limbo. As I take leave of the group, Casimiro asks casually, “You got a dollar?”—already displaying the entitlement mentality of a Haight-Ashbury or Venice Beach gutter punk (see “The Sidewalks of San Francisco,” Autumn 2010).

according to their history lesson., they are an OG Santa Ana born lil' locos clique who had to get it together because of them getting shot at by other hoods around., no relationship to the Huntington Park's

UNITED BY CRIME is the name, and they call themselves the Original Cartel
they're centered around Bomo Park neighborhood in the South Coast district
they started out in 1990 at sadleback high school and hanged out on olive street
later their second generation established a second hood in the wilshire square district
they were once aligned with the Alley Boys due to a lot of family relations
but they didn't want to clique up and decided to run solo
Delhi tried to punk them as youngsters, that's when they stepped up to the plate
their motto is.,
we don't bang for the fame, we bang for the name!
21.2.3
200+ strong
their enemigas list is long, since they are one of Santa Ana's most hated gangs
Sycamore
Los Compadres
The Public Vandals
On The Blast
Lil' Brook
Lil' Hood
Santa Ana Browns
South Side Rifa
Barrio Small Town
Seventh Street
Calle Townsend
Lopers
Delhi amongst the most hated ones
and even FxTroop

but UNITED BY CRIME 13 is the name

^Yes. That's only a small portion showing where Santa Ana and Garden Grove meet. Hard Times is a Garden Grove varrio. I believe the oldest gang in GG. Garden Grove has a whole other list of gangs.
