Walnuts Gang from the Early 1970s in South LA

Many neighborhoods can not maintain themselves with the level of competition. They may get pulled into other neighborhoods or they just fade out. Only discuss those areas from LOS ANGELES that are gone.

Walnuts Gang from the Early 1970s in South LA

Unread post by alexalonso » December 26th, 2015, 11:03 pm

I wonder if there are any OG Walnuts gang members from the early 1970s. They were the one that shot Jimel Barnes in 1971 when Jimel was claiming Crips in the Avalon Gardens projects. Jimel Barnes was about 16 or 17 years old when he was shot by the Walnuts.

Where are the Walnuts today?

I would say in 1977 or 78. I was in juvenile camp with the former boxer Henry Tillman in 1976. He was a Walnut then.

Henry Tilman runs a boxing gym in Carson and I called him and he denied any membership. I was told he was once from Kitchen. I didn't know about the Walnuts, but he told me he never was involved.

His gym is at:
21625 Avalon Blvd
Carson, California
(310) 897-9006

One day I am going to check him out.

From my understanding Walnuts turned into 87GC even though they were Bloods/Blood friendly....

I met a Walnut and he told me that he knows of about 10 Walnut members still alive.
