Craig Monson's Avenues Gang in South LA

Many neighborhoods can not maintain themselves with the level of competition. They may get pulled into other neighborhoods or they just fade out. Only discuss those areas from LOS ANGELES that are gone.

Craig Monson's Avenues Gang in South LA

Unread post by alexalonso » April 3rd, 2017, 11:48 am

This is a gang that was active during the 1960s, probably after the Watts Riots probably forming around 1967, just a guess on everything I heard. They probably weren't really a gang, who knows what labels were used then, and perhaps the police put the "gang" label on them.
Craing Munson names always comes up, he had some brothers and there were others too.

Learned today that the Avenues started on the corner of Hooper and 83rd Street. That was ground ZERO for the Avenues and today that is Kitchen Crip neighborhood.

Casper, Kick Back and let the Story be Told.

Your like a dude that interrupts conversations.

Kitchen Crips are a (1973) Gang.

The Kitchens had Avenues & Eastside Crips in their formation.

The Area went from Avenues to Crips to Kitchen Crips.

I am uncertain on Kitchen's origin. I put them in 1971/1972 but I need to speak to Leonard "Skull" Hall and see what he says.

Dont think there is any direct connection between the SLausons, which started to fade after the 1965 riots and the Avenues which formed after the riots, maybe around 1966 or 1967. WHat's interesting though, Bunchy Carter and Craig Monson were friends, lived in same neighborhood and when Craig was this buff teenager, he would function with a lot of the Panthers. He know the entire Carter family very well.

Did Kitchen ever exist as a gang, like Kitchen Boys or Kitchen Gang before they were Crippin? Or did their origins start as Crip from the beginning of their formation?

I just watched it hoping to hear something about the Avenues and Craig Monson, but I did notice that some of the questions were about gang I posted on this string last year: viewtopic.php?f=156&t=61039

Specifically the Central Avenue Crips and the Black Mafia Crips.
