1st East Coast Crip gang member "Looney" was shot and killed in August 1991 by the Primera Flats gang. He was killed as a payback for the murder of "Clown", a Primera Flats gang member who was shot and killed in September 1990 by the 1st East Coast Crips.

1st East Coast Crip gang member "New York" was shot and killed over a territory dispute by a member of The Magicians Club gang, 1st East Coast Crip shot a member of The Magicians Club gang. The Magicians Club gang responded by killing "New York" as retaliation.

Looks like the L.A times article had it wrong, you're right it should have been The Mobb Crew, and not The Magicians Club, I believe they got the gangs wrong due to them sharing the same initials, "TMC".
