James Castaldo, a reputed member of the New Jersey-based DeCavalcante crime family, allegedly set up the hit with an unnamed member of Russian organized crime, unaware that the man was cooperating with the FBI. "

Who's this Paul DiMarco guy that wiki says is boss of Genovese?
Is Crea still thought to take over as boss once his parole is done?
thewestside wrote:Lee23Claire wrote:Many on the internet have claimed so but he never was. He was set to become the new boss in the 1990's but was indicted before that could happen. He has always been a captain and was part of the family's committee in the 1990's set up to help Junior Gotti run the organization. His brother, Joseph Corozzo, is of course the family's consigliere.
Is Corozzo considered one of the top captains? Does Peter Gotti still have the influence/power of his boss title within the family? That's just a name somebody made up on Wikipedia, which is always a dubious source for organized crime. The Genovese family has been led by a committee of captains in recent years with one of them stepping up as acting boss from time to time. The latest was Daniel Leo, who was indicted in 2007 and again earlier this month.
So he doesn't even exist?Crea is the underboss. Though in prison for life, Vic Amuso has remained boss, at least in title and still carries a certain amount of influence in the family.

I'd be surprised. He is very well respected in the family and is a big earner and he doesn't really need the position. The families have become reluctant to install new official bosses because it's just paints a target for law enforcement on their back. I mean, look at where the three official bosses are right now - Peter Gotti (Gambino), Vic Amuso (Lucchese), Carmine Persico (Colombo) - all in prison for life.

What's the status of the LCN Commission?

There is always somebody who will step up and take it but it is risky to say the least.Does Peter Gotti have the influence/power of a boss in the Gambino Family, or do they just let him have the title?
More towards the latter. The influence of the Gotti faction and their supporters in the family have been dwindling for some time. John is dead. Gene has been in prison for over 20 years. Peter will die in prison. Richard was never a major player and got demoted from captain last time I heard. Vincent is under indictment. John Jr. is under indictment. What's the status of the LCN Commission?
The last known Commission meeting was in the early 2000's. It was chaired by Bonanno boss Joe Massino, who was the last official New York boss not in prison at the time. The others that attended were acting Gambino boss Peter Gotti, Genovese captain Frank Giovanelli, Lucchese acting boss Louis Daidone, and Colombo consigliere Joel Cacace.
