Campanella Park Pirus [CPP] are a predominately African-American street gang located on the westside of Compton. The CPP took the name from the park at 14812 S Stanford Avenue that was named after Roy Campanella (1921 – 1993), a former baseball player that was half Black and half Italian that played in the Negro leagues and eventually played in the Major Leagues shortly after Jackie Robinson debuted in 1947.

- Jai Hassan-Jamal “Big Jake” Robles, 24 (July 27, 1969 – Sept. 23, 1995) killed in Atlanta during a large scale argument between Suge Knight and Sean Comb’s camps at a club. When shots rang out, Robles was shot multiple times. It was rumored that the shooter, was Sean “Puff Daddy” Comb’s bodyguard & bestfriend, Anthony “Wolf” Jones ( – 2003). This incident may have triggered the Death Row Records vs Bad Boy beef commonly referred to the “West Coast East Coast beef.” Ironically, Anthony “Wolf Jones” was killed in 2003 in an Atlanta nightclub by Big Meech’s camp from BMF (Black Mafia Family). No charges were ever filed in any of these homicides.
