Eastside MOB Piru is a predominately African-American street gang located on the eastside of Compton in a northeast section of Compton which has a territory adjacent to the City of Lynwood. The MOB Pirus are closely aligned with another Blood set, the Lueders Park Pirus, located just south of the MOB across Rosecrans.
The most well known member of this neighborhood is football play turned music executive, Marion “Suge” Knight. During the 1980s, Knight was pursuing a football career in high school and then in college at UNLV in Las Vegas. He briefly played in the NFL during the 1987 strike season as a “scab” player but was later cut.
By 1990, Knight was doing bodyguard work and looking to get into the music industry and he began to represent the MOB Piru identity more aggressively. Many people who played college football with Knight claimed that he never exhibited a “gangster” persona.
During the early 1990s, he founded Death Row Records along with Andre “Dr. Dre” Young, with seed money provided by Michael “Harry-O” Harris, and they soon produced music for Snoop Dogg, Mi’chelle, Kurupt and Tupac Shakur making the record company one of the most successful ones during the 1990s.
Mob Piru member Travon “Tray” Lane may have been a part of a conflict that eventually led to the murder of Tupac Shakur in September 1996. Earlier that year around April, Lane was at the Footlocker at the Lakewood Mall, when confronted by Southside Compton Crips member Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson. During the conflict, Anderson and several others allegedly took a Death Row necklace and medallion from Lane. Months later in Las Vegas on September 7, while walking in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel, Lane coincidentally sees Anderson and tells Tupac Shakur that Anderson is the one who stole the medallion. Shakur assaults Anderson as others in the entourage join in on the beating which is captured on surveillance tape. Later that night, Shakur is fatally shot, allegedly by Anderson. Knight was sent to prison on a parole violation for his role in the beating. Death Row Records was never able to recover following the events of 1996.

- Alton “Buntry” McDonald, 36 (February 5, 1966 – April 3, 2002), fatally shot while pumping gas at station on Rosecrans & Atlantic in Compton. He worked for Death Row Records and was close friends with Suge Knight. Buntry was killed for his alleged involvement in the April 25, 2000 murder of Vence “V” Buchanan from Fruit Town Piru.
- Chin ( – April 3, 2003)
- Henry “Hendog” Smith, 33 ( – Oct. 16, 2002), fatally shot at Imperial Highway and Vermont Avenue as he sat in his parked vehicle. He was an employee of Death Row Records and is credited with designing the logo for the record company.

- Aaron “Heron” Palmer, aka Golder ( – June 1, 1997), was fatally shot in his car while at a red light near Rosecrans and Santa Fe Avenue in Compton. At least two shooters, got out of a minivan and started shooting from behind Heron and through his passenger window. There were 9mm and .45 caliber casings found at the scene.
- Ernest “Papoose” Mitchell, 39 (November 24, 1970 – January 9, 2009) shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada by brothers-in-law Jermaine Brass, 25, and Ronnie Brass, 29 during a verbal dispute over rims and tires. The two brothers were found guilty in 2010 following a trial on felony counts of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Ernest Mitchell outside his home near the intersection of Smoke Ranch Road and Michael Way in Las Vegas and his wife, Katrina testified against her two brothers.
- Wardell “Poochie” Fouse aka Darnell Bolton, 43 (July 22, 1960 – July 24, 2003), was fatally shot in the back while riding his motorcycle in Compton. Poochie was the primary suspect and the only credible suspect in the March 1997 murder of rapper Christopher “Biggie” Wallace in Los Angeles.
- Sali-B, ( – 2021), died from illness, was an active rapper.
