Fruit Town Brims

Brief History: A guy named Davey, originally from Compton's Fruit Town Piru, got the FTBs underway around 1974. Since the westside of Los Angeles was a Brim location, Davey created the Fruit Town Brims. The Fruit Town Pirus get their name from the streets in Compton (i.e. Cherry, Plum, etc.) so the FTB are a spin off of the FTPs. The FTBs attended John Muir Jr. High School. During the 1970s there was the 30s Fruit Town Brims and the 40s Fruit Town Brims. The 40s Fruit Town Brims were located from 41st Street (north) to 48th Street (south) between Vermont (west) and Figueroa (east). Another Brim group called the Unton Brims were between Normandie and Hoover from 50th Street to 59th Street and the 59 Brims were near Hoover and 59th Streets. This is now Rollin 40 Crip neighborhood.

There was also the Orchard Brims off Orchard Street which eventually faded out by the early 1980s. Some of the original Fruit Town Brims include Papa Tee, Wendel, Snake, and Teddy Cheese.
