NeighborHood Rollin’ 20s Bloods are a predominately African-American street gang in the West Adams community of South Los Angeles, California. During the 1950s and 60s there was a gang in this area called Blood Alley on Cordova Street near where the Santa Monica Freeway is today that was the predecessor neighborhood to the Rollin 20s Blood. In the early 1970s when black gangs were on the rise, the youth from this neighborhood continued the Blood identity from the previous generation, but it was not related to the Blood identity that grew in the 1970s. Some of the founders of the 20s are O/G Big Red, Al, & Tee Coleman.
They began with the name N-hood around 1970 or 1971, then they added the Rollin’ 20s between 1975 and 1977. Somewhere between 1977 and 1979 they added the Blood to the name. During the 1970s they had two clicks, 25th & 27th Streets. The clicks were known as the Deuce Seven and Deuce Five Players. The 29th Street click was formed on the southside of the neighborhood towards Jefferson Avenue. By 1984 the 2nd Avenue Gangsters (SAG) on the north side of the Santa Monica Freeway were added to the set, and by the early 1990s, the Black Demon Soldiers (BDS), which were also on the north side of the freeway were added. Other clicks of the 20s included the Belizean Posse click and 15th Street, but the only active ones as of 2012 are the first four, 25th, 27th, 29th and SAG.
This neighborhood is briefly mentioned in Chapter 6 of Eight Tray Gangster Crip (83rd GC) member, Sanyika Shakur’s (Kody Scott) book, Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member (1993). Shakur recalls a night taking the bus from downtown Los Angeles to his neighborhood in South LA where he discusses neighborhoods that he traveled through.
In Chapter 5 of Steve Herbert’s, Policing Space, 1997 he recalls this neighborhood as he was researching the LAPD for eight months in Los Angeles and in City of Quartz, 1990 by Mike Davis, he mentions in Chapter 5, how an unarmed innocent affiliate of this neighborhood was shot on Adams Boulevard by the LAPD on April 5, 1988.
Journalist Kathy Braidhill wrote Where the Boyz Are for “Los Angeles Magazine” in January 1998 where she mentions this neighborhood and others. In the Allhood Publications issue 3, there is an article about the history of the Neighborhood Bloods.
The NHood 20s have one of the the largest territories of any Blood gang in Los Angeles County covering areas from Jefferson (south) to Pico (north). They were once closely associated with Hoover Families, a neighborhood by Hoover Park on Adams and Hoover, but they faded out around 1978. On the south side of the freeway they occupy the area between Vermont (east) to approximately Arlington (west) between roughly Jefferson (s) and 10 Santa Monica Freeway. They do also occupy parts west of Arlington, but that area is mostly occupied by the City Stones of BPS. On the north side of the Freeway they occupy the area between Crenshaw (west) to Western (east) from Pico (north) to the Freeway (south).
Member Terrell “Loko” Wright, published an autobiography entitled “Home of the Body Bags” that chronicles his life in the gang during the 1980s and 1990s and what prison life has been like during the 2000s.

I went to Vermont Avenue Skool with a lot of the OG’s from 20’s. I grew up playing baseball against them and used to organize Football in the street all the time on 30th and Catalina.
