Westlake / Koreatown – On Monday, a double homicide claimed victims, Jonathan “Kidd” Villamizar (b. April 5, 1990), 19, and Alexander “Frost” Veleche (b. Dec. 1, 1994), 24, on the northwest corner of Normandie Avenue and 3rd Street in the Lucy’s Laundry Mat parking lot. The shooting occurred at 1:53 on a bright clear day in front of a busy intersection when two suspects walked up and fired multiple times. Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations were occurring in other parts of the city when the double homicide took place. The victims were just walking together at the time of the shooting when they were ambushed.
The two victims were gang members from 18th Street – Shatto Park but it is not clear if the shooting was gang related. One victim was shot multiple times in the torso and head while the other victim was struck once or twice. Both victims were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two male suspects were seen running north on Normandie Avenue. One suspect was wearing a black sweater; the second suspect was wearing a gray-and-white shirt.
