Vinson Hardimon, also known as Young Vito, appeared in court yesterday to face gun possession charges and the December 16 murder of Mario Hamilton, or Slim Dunkin, in a studio on Memorial Drive in Atlanta. After days of the media encouraging Young Vito to turn himself in, the rapper did so December 26th with a drastically altered appearance, having shaven off his beard and losing his dreadlocks, and was taken into custody at Fulton Prison.

The two men had reportedly gotten into a brawl over a piece of candy, and it was believed that their fight in the studio booth turned deadly when an associate of Hardimon’s passed him a gun. Although the weapon and shell casings were never found, according to AllHipHop, prosecutors believe that with some 30 people who were on the scene, most likely someone close to Vito had cleaned up the scene before fleeing. Still, Hardimon’s laptop was found on site, and prosecutors have two witnesses who testified to the rapper’s presence. The accused is currently being held without bond due to a record of priors, including arrests for aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

Slim Dunkin, 24, was a longtime friend of Waka Flocka Flame and an artist to watch of Brick Squad.
