The Insane Clown Posse Juggalo Championship Wrestling event in Southgate, MI was shut down by police on Wednesday. Officials heard about the event and knew that the Modern Exchange venue did not have a liquor license.

Southgate Police Lt. Ed Sukel said that even though beer was served free of charge, there was a cover fee to get into the event, which is a violation of state liquor laws. Eight citations were issued to minors drinking alcohol, but the employees could not be proven to have knowingly served the youths. Owner Doug Blair, who might have faced a misdemeanor had there been no admission price, now faces a felony charge.

ICP’s publicist released a statement, quoted via HipHopDX, “Law enforcement officials flooded the venue in everything from standard uniforms to body armor and ultimately attempted to enter the ring which drew a raucous chant of “FUCK THE POLICE” from the ninja’s in attendance. Perhaps the audience recognized that Detroit, a city known locally as “The Murder Mitten” and nationally as the murder capital of the country would have more pressing issues than stopping several hundred people from having an enjoyable night out and supporting the local economy while watching wrestling history be made?” Host KG said attendees will be refunded their tickets.
