Jermaine Dupri Embroiled in $1 Mill Royalties Lawsuit

A lawsuit against Jermaine Dupri was lurking nearly unknown for over a month until RadarOnline discovered the filing from January 13. Former business partner Eddie Weathers is now seeking $1 million in what he claims are rightful profits from their joint venture Dieniahmar Music LLC.

The two created the company in 2005 with an agreement to split profits 50/50, but when Dupri entered a co-publishing deal with EMI Music the next year, Weather related how Dupri declared himself the sole owner. Royalties to EMI were then siphoned directly to Dupri and his business manager, while Weathers received only two years of back pay in 2008. He was further excluded when Dupri spoke of selling Dieniahmar Music to EMI entirely in April 2013, for which Weather was promised a $238,000 share.

The proof of their close blankociation is in the name “derived from the birth names of Weathers’ and [Jermaine] Mauldin’s children Eddie Jr., Shaniah and Kamar,” stated the lawsuit.
