The privacy of celebrity financial information may be tested as ex-wife Ariel Hakim of Def Jam Vice-President of A&R Abou “Bu” Thiam presses for more child support. Hakim cast doubt on Thiam’s claim that his income only counts $30,000 a month, and her attorneys are now asking for “all documents of any participation of employment with Def Jam Records” to closely examine all sources of income.

Among the roster of Def Jam’s represented artists are Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Young Jeezy, Lady Gaga, and T-Pain. According to Radar Online, the notice posted by Hakim’s attorney is asking for disclosure of ““all records of salary, commissions, bonuses, expenses, reimbursement, pensions, and other compensations,” “all deposit slips, cancelled checks, passbooks, check registers, cash receipt books and all other documents reflecting checking accounts savings accounts money market accounts,” and “any and all evidence of any ownership” since their divorce in 2010.

Admitting that he made more than the stated amount, Thiam still characterized the request as “beyond his obligations,” “overly broad” and “unduly burdensome.” Hakim decided to take their single child in a unilateral move to Florida without consultation, an act which Thiam argued violated his visitation agreement and racked up travel expenses. Their custody case is scheduled for April 7th in Georgia.
