Have you heard of GRAMMY U? Anyone considering a career in the recording industry may be well-advised to keep an eye out for this new initiative by The Recording Academy, and Hip-Hop fans in particular for their April schedule. Throughout the next month, the Grammy Award-nominated sound engineer Young Guru will be touring the United States to teach young students the art of music production.
The Jay-Z/Roc-A-Fella Records regular has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Drake, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg, and is a member of The Recording Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing Advisory Council. The tour kicks off on April 8 in Philadelphia and continues through 13 cities total. Sponsored in part by HP and Disc Makers, the program provides GRAMMY U members of college students ranging in ages of 17 to 25 access to an “out of the classroom” perspective. Young Guru’s stint with the program is being called the “Era Of The Engineer” tour.
