Former pair Jennifer Lopez and Puff Daddy found themselves sharing headlines Friday when the winning bid for FuseTV was announced going to the actress-dancer- singer.

Although technically a minority owner of NUVOtv, creative director Lopez gained credit for its parent company’s acquisition of Fuse. SiTV agreed to pay $226 million for the entity, outbidding Revolt, the music network started by Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs. With 74 million cable households, it would more than double either Lopez’ or Combs’ reach.

Lopez’ manager Benny Medina insists that the companies would remain intact, having different identities, audiences and goals.  He said of the two stars’ interest, “I don’t think it’s a coincidence…In many ways, Jennifer and Sean are cut from the same cloth… They’re both passionate artists of the same generation who think on a grand and global scale. They were two superstars seeking to build their brand, who happened to be Jennifer and Puffy.”

Combs’ Revolt launched in October of last year to present music videos and other exclusive content. Offerings by the Lopez-backed NUVOtv, however, has been mostly non-musical English-language cable entertainment geared towards Latinos.
