Meek Mill Sues for Millions Lost to Wrongful Arrest

While police can stop and frisk on only the vaguest of suspicions, Meek Mill has taken action to hold them accountable. On Halloween 2012, he was arrested when the Philadelphia police claimed to smell marijuana coming from his vehicle. Now he’s suing the Philly P.D. for the loss of having to cancel an appearance and the resulting lowered offer due to the bad publicity.

TMZ reports that the jet cancellation alone cost $22k, losing $39k on the A-Town party he was kept from, and negotiations for a $2 million deal with Puma that dropped down to $650k.

The lawsuit claims false imprisonment and invasion of privacy, as the vehicle search turned up clean. Officers Andre Boyer and Michael Vargas are named for holding the rapper for nine hours and posting photos of him during the detainment to Instagram, while a spokeswoman corrected to MTV News that Meek Mill was stopped in the vehicle, detained but not arrested.
