One who many consider one of the most underrated black performers, by entertainers of all walks, during his lifetime is finally getting his due on Showtime. Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic documentary, directed by Marina Zenovich of Roman Polanski: Odd Man Out, is slated to be broadcasted on the cable network on May 31st.

Jennifer Pryor, the late comedian’s wife, and his son Richard Pryor Jr. were involved in the project as producer and speaking about the legend on film, with additional participants that include Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Mel Brooks, and George Lopez. Pryor’s fearless candor, unveiling humor from personal run-ins with the law and physical ailments to the plight of minorities and the poor, unshackled the taboo from approaching society’s ills with knowing levity. His break into Hollywood proved that African American actors can be just as bankable as more mainstream stars.

Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd before hitting Showtime.

Like said the article “underrated” ! This man was a monster, real stand-up performer. The one who saw him performing ought to give him the credit and his due.
