Earl Sweatshirt’s whereabouts have purportedly been discovered after a yearlong mystery. Complex magazine reported last week that the young rapper was finally located in Samoa after following various leads from social media content to Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All’s lyrics for a giveaway. Domo Genesis and Hodgy Beats of OFWGKTA recently released the song Tang Golf, spinning, “Ask Syd where we at. She’ll tell you where we going — to free Earl from the fucking Samoans.”
The breakthrough came when U.S. Ambassador David Huebner posted a photo from his recent visit to the Coral Reef Academy, an “off-shore treatment program for at-risk teenage boys.” Earl Sweatshirt, real name Thebe Kgositsile, was rumored to have been shipped off to military boarding school when the 17-year old’s parents heard their son’s lyrics.
Some close associates of the young OFWGKTA member did not take well to the outing of Earl’s location by the media. The group’s frontman Tyler, The Creator tweeted, “Fucking Creeps, Did All That For A Nigga That You Don’t Even Know. Can’t Even Respect My; His; Or His Mom Privacy.” The academy in Samoa could not legally confirm Complex magazine’s findings, but fans who have searched for Earl over the past year will no doubt latch onto the news.
