Dr. Dre, born Andre Young, and business partner Jimmy Lovine, co-founder of Interscope Records and chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, are taking their musical venture toward academia. According to KPCC, the pair are gifting $70 million to the University of Southern California to start the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. The four year undergraduate program has ambitions as large as its title.

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s academy will span multiple disciplines, from marketing to computer science and visual arts, with one-on-one faculty mentoring in order to make sure future music producers have the collaborative acumen they need to be successful entrepreneurs. The announcement came on the eve of the finale for “American Idol,” on which Iovine is a regular guest judge.

The academy is expected to accept its first class of 25 students in fall 2014. Dr. Dre and Iovine are also the joint founders of Beats Electronics LLC, known for its eponymous headphones.
