Two days before being honored at a pre-Grammy party, Mary J. Blige was tacked with a $3.4 million tax lien. The blankociated Press reported on Billboard that the IRS filed the lien noting that the nine-time Grammy Award winner had owed $574,000 for the 2009 tax year, $2.2 million for 2010, and $647,000 the year after that.

The only statement from Blige’s representative came Tuesday. TMZ quoted, “Mary has been and is continuing to work with her new team to resolve all these issues as quickly as possible.”

The singer was already served a lawsuit last November for allegedly defaulting on a $2.2 million bank loan, while the Garden State claims that they are owed nearly $902,000 in back taxes. Blige is among a smattering of hip-hop and R&B singers facing tax troubles, including Lauren Hill, who will be serving three months in prison for failing to pay taxes on $1.8 million in earnings.
