Mary J. Blige Addresses Lawsuit Against Her Charity

Mary J. Blige has responded to TD Bank over the lawsuit against FFAWN (her titular The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement Now) for an outstanding loan. TD Bank claimed that the charity owed $250,000 in unpaid loans, which Blige did not deny. Rather, the songstress admitted that FFAWN had been mismanaged financially.

In order that the women the foundation was meant to help would not have their scholarships revoked, Blige immediately called her lawyers and advisers for solutions to rectify the misappropriation of funds, and she has kept the scholarships in good standing by donating from her own purse. Throughout the ordeal, Blige explained, “My goal is to do exactly what I set out to do and my motives were true and upfront: I set out to empower, encourage and help women and because I got a second chance myself, I wanted to give them a second chance.”  The first step has already been taken by restructuring the organization with a newly hired team, as she vows to keep their doors open in high standards.
