Timothy Blair, also known as Tim Dog, is reported to be the subject of tonight’s “Dateline NBC” for his online dating scam defrauding a woman out of $32,000 in credit card debt. He pleaded guilty to grand larceny for using his long-distance relationship with Mississippi resident Esther Pilgrim to seek investment for his comeback album last fall.
Blair received five years of probation, within which time he was to pay Pilgrim $19,000 in restitution. Using the proceeds from one “investor,” he would project an image of living large to the next lonely victim. There have been no updates on an album since.
Bronx rapper Tim Dog gained attention for the diss song “Fuck Compton” released on his debut record Penicillin on Wax in the early ’90s. That incendiary album caused a slew of retaliatory tunes across the West Coast. He moved on from producing his own records to becoming CEO of Big Xity Entertainment in New York and BMC Management in Atlanta.
