Robert “RZA” Diggs spent the past Sunday in jail, but not as one might expect of a rapper. He went to Los Angeles County’s Juvenile Hall on Father’s Day to voluntarily speak with inmates about fatherhood. Many of the young men incarcerated in juvenile detention are also young fathers, and they have a tremendous responsibility ahead on their pending release.
RZA told the Probation Department that he wanted to “educate the young men about their roles, responsibilities and expectations as fathers upon their release from juvenile hall.” This encompassed the practical knowledge of how to change diapers, dressing one’s children, and handling finances for a growing family.
When he isn’t donating his time to a cause or investigating different forms of spirituality, the producer behind the Wu-Tang Clan and founding member of Gravediggaz also acts on film and TV. He can currently be seen working his dramatic chops on Showtime’s “Californication.”
