Carl Barnett, also know by his performer name of “Supa Sport,” was apprehended by the DEA for operating a drug ring that ran from Georgia to New Jersey. “The Detroit Boyz” worked in the Motor City Car Club auto body shop, importing heroin, cocaine and marijuana that was sold around Morrisville and Trenton.
The investigation of Supa Sport involved no less than law enforcement agencies from Lower Southampton, Warminster, Bensalem, Plumstead, Lower Makefield and Falls. Ten of twelve defendants were arrested, each to face a count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and up to 40 years in prison if found guilty.
This development may prompt listeners to take the account of his own drug experience in the song “Days Like This” more seriously, prosecutors certainly did. The song was reported to have been quoted in the 77-page federal indictment. But whereas Supa Sport rapped that “The feds taking bricks, trying to stop the game. I see them watching me, no stopping me, I’m rolling strong, investigating me like they don’t see what’s going on,” with the help of informants, the Drug Enforcement Agents now has lengthy recorded conversations against their suspect.
