Another young rapper’s career was cut short when the death of 17/18-year-old Lil Snupe was confirmed on June 20th. Meek Mill had high hopes for the young man; he had signed Snupe to Dream Chasers after hearing his demo for only 20 minutes, went the story on MTV.

“He was spittin’ so much pain, he’s from the south with a flow like an east coast guy,” said Meek of the Jonesboro, Louisiana rapper. “Like with that bounce flow, all over the place, he really can spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him.”

On Thursday, Lil Snupe’s manager, Leem, tweeted, “The call I got this morning is un real RIP 2 my Lil nigga lilsnupe.” Earlier that day at 2:48 am, Meek posted, “tell lil snupe hit me up right now!!!”

The teen, due for a concert appearance at Farmerville on Saturday, was fatally shot twice in the chest at the Maplewood Apartment Complex in Winnfield. Meek mourned, “The streets killed my Lil nigga Snupe… I always told him don’t try 2 keep it real wit the streets…. Bcuz they won’t keep it real wit you.”
