tracymorgansueswalmartWalmart has gone into damage control mode ever since comedian Tracy Morgan recovered enough from a traffic accident to start a lawsuit against the company. A complaint was filed Thursday after a Walmart truck rear-ended the comedian’s limo, and a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the driver had been running without sleep for over 24 hours.

Traveling 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, the truck’s crash resulted in broken ribs for Morgan and the death of colleague James McNair.

“This has been a terrible tragedy,” Walmart said on NBC’s report of injuries to additional personnel. “Our thoughts continue to go out to them, their families and friends, as well as to the families and friends of everyone involved, including Mr. McNair who lost his life…We know it will take some time to resolve all of the remaining issues as a result of the accident, but we’re committed to doing the right thing for all involved.”

The complaint asks for punitive damages as a result of the corporation’s negligence, while Tracy continues his recovery at home.
