In 2005, Beanie Sigel received a 10 month prison term for illegal gun possession and violated his probation six months into the term. Now he’s come under government prosecution again for three years’ worth of unpaid income taxes. Last Tuesday, Beanie plead guilty to charges of tax evasion for $1 million in income, totaling around $348,000 in taxes that the government wants to collect.

At the hearing, however, his  attorney Fortunato N. Perri Jr. said he would contest the government’s calculation of taxes owed when Sigel appears for sentencing. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Gray said the government believes Sigel may have failed to pay taxes for years prior to 2003, but the statute of limitations had already expired to allow taking any legal action.

Pending the sentencing of U.S. District Judge Jan E. Dubois in November, Sigel could face up to 3 years in prison.
