Fans of Bun B can celebrate publicly tomorrow as “Bun B Day” is inaugurated in Houston, Texas. According to Isiah Carey of Fox 26, Mayor Annise Parker and the City Council will officially declare August 30th “Bun B Day” in honor of the Houston rapper who has time and again given back to his community.
The music artist, real name Bernard Freeman, has raised recognition of Hip Hop in the South and is respected for teaching a course on the culture at Rice University. Following the death of his music partner Pimp C, Freeman moved on from the rap group UGK to a successful solo career, signing with Rap-A-Lot Records. The record company’s own CEO James Prince was previously honored for his public services and philanthropy four years ago.
Those who want to witness the proclamation ceremony can do so at Houston’s City Hall, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Some are calling it a Trill Day.
