Tomorrow night, Kasseem Dean, better known as Swizz Beatz, will be formally appointed Global Ambassador for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. The Fund for HHC saw the making of a good ambassador for their organization because of Beatz’ strong history of philanthropy for therapeutic community projects.
“As an artist, I understand the important role that art can play as part of the healing process,” Dean is quoted on NYC.gov. In fact his belief in the importance of giving back so instills his way of life that his five-year-old son donated 5K to the 4th annual Bronx Charter School For The Arts Art Auction Fundraiser just this May.
The Fund for the HHC is responsible for raising awareness and funding for programming initiatives determined by New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation clinical management staff. Its current priorities include reducing violence, providing youth development opportunities, increasing accessibility to healthcare for adolescents, and fostering the powerful healing alliance between healthcare and the arts.
The ceremony recognizing their new partnership will kick-off as a double gala at the opening of the new Harlem Hospital Center Mural Pavilion, showcasing one of the Works Progress Administration’s Federal Art Projects replicated on its multi-story glass façade.
