The body of James Deel, who committed suicide by gunshot, was discovered on October 3, 2011. He was known by the rapper name of Chaos Kid, collaborating with another Detroit native Eminem in the group Soul Intent during high school and later as the duo Bassmint Productions from 1989 to 1992.

“The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the amazing outpour of love, support, prayers, and condolences that we have received during this extremely difficult time,” posted AllHipHop. “James Deel (aka Chaos Kid) was an extraordinary and gifted writer, performer, and individual. Throughout James’s adult years, he suffered from severe mental illnesses and the James we all knew and loved slowly began slipping away.”

Chaos Kid was remembered for defending Eminem against allegations of racism from a demo tape where the rapper used the N-word disrespectfully towards African-American women, and later in his career with the new moniker of Snafu. Memorial services for Deel were held on Sunday at the Harry J Will funeral Home and again today.
