Nineteen-year-old Capital STEEZ is reported dead this morning on Christmas Eve. His last tweet on Sunday just before midnight, “The End,” points to suicide as the probable cause. Capital STEEZ was a member of the Pro Era crew who, with Joey Bada$$, were celebrating the release of their “PEEP: The aPROcalypse” only days before.

Joey Badass confirmed STEEZ’s death on twitter. “This unfortunate xmas eve.. Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy.. May ur soul rest in peace Jamal.”

Capital STEEZ, born Jamal Dewar, had released a solo mixtape called “AmerKKKan Koruption,” which revealed him to be a thoughtful up-and-coming young rapper from Brooklyn. “AMERIKKKAN KORRUPTION came about during a time in my high school years where everyone was following fads and trying to fit in and naturally I did the same,” STEEZ is quoted by Pitchfork. “It got to a certain point where I asked myself why? I started to open my eyes, I was a slave to television, media, and the daily motions of what we call the AMERIKKKAN Dream. My only intentions are to get the AMERIKKKAN Public to open up that 3rd eye just a little bit, and from there we ALL can grow.”
