The drug and firearm possession case of DeAndre Cortez Way, aka Soulja Boy, was pblanked over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to investigate items discovered in the arrest of the rapper in October. Thousands of dollars in cash and more than five ounces of marijuana were retrieved when he was pulled over for a traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Temple, Georgia.

Soulja Boy and three other pblankengers were charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime by the Temple Police Department, but the U.S. District Attorney’s Office would not confirm if they would pursue federal charges.

According to Times-Georgian, DEA special agent John Murphy said that the amount of substances found did not meet requirements for a federal drug investigation. “As far as the drugs, it was five ounces of marijuana, that wouldn’t even register on a federal level. If you’ve got a rapper that could show legitimate income, that could be contested as being legitimate income, and without a substantial amount of drugs, we didn’t have anything that would rate a federal drug charge on that.”
