The man convicted of murder shooting of 27-year-old Michael Allen Davis  in a parking lot following rapper E-40’s 2009 concert in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. According to The Gazette, Terry Lamaire Gaines testified to the shooting as self-defense, thinking he saw Davis reaching for a gun while sitting in his car and being threatened with a gun-like hand gesture during the concert.

4th Judicial District Judge Jann DuBois added four years to Gaines’ sentence on a charge of vehicular eluding of police on a high-speed chase until Colorado State Patrol troopers flattened his vehicle tires and gun and marijuana possession offenses on top of first-degree murder.

“I just want to say that this is a loss for everybody,” Gaines told the judge. “And even though they think justice is served, justice ain’t served ’cause they’re going to have to go the rest of their lives hurting, just like my family has got to go the rest of their life hurting.”
