So i grew up in this neighborhood in the 90′s, and i have to say that this big hazard thing is getting old. It is sad to see young latino men, and females, fall under the hands of gang violence and police brutality. I mean these are young kids are neglected by either their parents or teachers, and join this gang in search for some kind of belonging. There is a way out, and trust me when dedicate yourselves in moving out this community, the reward will pay off.

  5. I simply wanted to send a quick message in order to appreciate you for all of the superb suggestions you are sharing on this site. My rather long internet look up has now been recognized with reliable facts to write about with my great friends. I would assume that most of us visitors are undoubtedly lucky to dwell in a fabulous site with many wonderful people with good pointers. I feel very privileged to have discovered your web site and look forward to so many more cool minutes reading here. Thanks a lot again for everything.

I was born in Big Hazard in the 40′s and lived there till I left in ’58. I recall that the community was divided by the tracks from Big Hazard and Little Hazard. On Sunday’s the park was used by many nationalities including Italian, Mexicans, and blacks. The Italians would roll wheels of cheese down a path, next to the tracks. The purpose was to see who could roll it the farthest. After a while, the wheel of cheese would break and everybody would eat pieces. The Mexicans would play baseball across the tracks and handball wherever they could. Those walls hadn’t been built as yet. All in all, it was a great place to live back then. I attended Santa Teresita Church and Father Antonio Boquet was the pastor and Father Dignam was his associate. Did I belong to a gang? Not by choice.
