Dog Town – Monte Vista is a predominately Hispanic street gang located in Highland Park near Monte Vista & Avenue 53 where another gang, the Avenues, are located.
This is a second Dog Town community that originate out of their first community on Main Street near downtown Los Angeles.

The DOGTOWN x PROJECTS in the chinatown/downtown LA area is the main click. Its where the gang first started, got its name from, been around longer than all the other DT clicks. Some time in the 1970s/80s some of the heads from the PJs started moving into highland park.
DOGTOWN X MONTE VISTA STREET in highland park clicked off when some of the heads from the Projects started moving into the area. They started putting heads from the highland park area down in the 80s (DT chico’s) – those heads started putting down their younger brothers, friends, family, cousins late 80s/early 90s (DT MVst duke’s). They’ve been around been around for maybe 2 or 3 generations.
Alot of them lived on & around monte vista st, in the PA’s, went to monte vista elementary. Back in the day there was a house on the corner of 53 & Monte Vista where they all use to kick it at. The Pink Apartments across the street was their kick it spot too. It’s where everyone would hang out, drink, smoke, throw ditch partys, slangs rocks, when people would get kicked out or runaway they’d go to the 53 & MVst block.
A long time ago, they use to beef it wit a gang in the area called rockwood. The beef wit avenues has been going on for 25-30 years. Recently they started going at it wit hlp.
