Claremont is the farthest eastern block on Los Angeles County map. It is located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Claremont is known for its 7 higher-education institutions, its tree-lined streets, and its historical buildings. Due to its large number of trees and residents with doctorates, it is know as “the City of Trees and PhDs”. It was rated by CNN/Money magazine as the 5th best place to live in the United States and it was the highest rated place to live in California.
In 2008, the total population recorded by the US census was 34,933 people. A large total of 72% of residents are White, and only 19.3% are Hispanic. 9.6% are Asian and 3.5% are Black or African American. Nearly the entire population (93.6%) has graduated with at least a high school degree and 54.2% have at least a Bachelor’s degree or higher, nearly doubling the national average.
Of the residents of this affluent town, only 16.9% are foreign born and 24.5% speak a language other than English in the home. The median family income is over 6 figures at $102,138, which far exceeds the national average of $63,211. Only 3.5% of families and 5.4% of individuals are recorded as living below the poverty line.

Technically that side of the street where these fools in question hang out is considered Montclair. The city/county border line used to start where the bike trail begins. None of this area was never part of the city of Upland. The area where the rock quarry used to be was unincorporated.

The only true CLARA I recognize on here is “Neto de Clara” and “Reyes familia”. I don’t know if the others are the ones hanging out in front of Georges house. You don’t make any statements, just throwing up the hood. I’m from CLARAMONTE and live here in the hood. I haven’t seen anyone else from CLARAMONTE around for years except neto.
CLARAMONTE was once a proud barrio. Located on border of LA and SB county. Started in the ’50s, hasn’t been around for at least ten years. It is a very small Mexican neighborhood – just two blocks on the border of Montclair, Upland, and Claremont. This neighborhood is separated from the rest of city (whites) by the colleges. I see people talking smack thinking that CLARAMONTE is connected to the rest of the city – only these two blocks. Also the county and city border was moved over from where the rock quarry was to Claremont Blvd a while back. Now half of the hood is now in the city of Upland. Like I said before, hasn’t been a gang here for at least ten years. Was reading Big Toneys comments about the fools that hang out in front of Georges house near the bike trail. I believe what he says about these wannabe mutts. They try act like gangsters but are not down to take care of business. They are not true CLARA, just giving this once proud barrio a bad name. Another hood — POCOS PARA Locos moved in and thought these fools represented CLARA. They punked these fools big time and tried to take over the hood but hit a roadblock on Blanchard street. They have sinced moved out of the hood. “Dammit George, tells those fools to quit hanging out there”. Oh yeah f_ck Artie and his f_ggot dad for bringing all these crackheads, Ni66ahs, and bums into the hood.
PONCHO, Pomona and Upland are like night and day. Upland for the most part is a nice city, where as Pomona, well, its reputation speaks for itself. Pit any varrio from Pomona, CVP, P12, HTP etc against an Upland varrio and Pomona will put the SMASH on em. Also, I thought “DUROC CRIPS” were from Duarte, not Pomona.
