Lennox has been designated by the census as an area in Los Angeles as a CDP (census designated place). The entire area of the Lennox CDP has a 2.8 sq. mile area. Lennox’s boundaries are Century Blvd. to the north, Interstate 405 to the west, and Interstate 105 to the south. Hawthorne Boulevard and Prairie Avenue make up portions of its eastern boundary with Inglewood. Lennox sits directly underneath the flight path of passenger jets landing at LAX.

According to the 2000 census, the total population of Lennox is 22,950. Almost 90% (89.8) of the population is Hispanic. 31.7% are white, 4.1% are Black or African American, and only .8% are Asian. 55.3% of residents were born in a different country and 87.6% speak a language other than English in the home. The age of the population is spread out pretty evenly with 39% of residents under the age of 18, 12.4% are from 18 to 24, 32.3% are 25 to 44, 12.7% are from 45 to 64, and 3.6% are over the age of 65.

Only 30% of residents have a high school degree or higher, and only 3% of residents have a bachelor’s degree or higher which is a fraction of the national average at 24.4% Conversely, 31.5% of families and individuals live below the poverty line. An absolutely staggering number, which nearly triples the national average of 12.4%
