Lomita is a city in the southern part of Los Angeles County, located on 1.9 sq. miles of land in between Palos Verdes and Long Beach. Lomita is Spanish for “little knoll”. Lomita originally occupied 7 sq. miles of land, but over time much of it was annexed by neighboring cities.
According to the 2008 US Census, the total population of Lomita is 20,168 people. 34.1% of residents are Hispanic, 66.6% of residents are White, 10.9% are Asian, and 2.8% are Black or African American.
